Eating together is an important part of the school day. We are lucky in having excellent meals cooked by a caring and hardworking staff. It is extremely helpful to us if the children come to school able to handle cutlery correctly. We also stress the importance of good manners, so that lunchtime is pleasant and relaxing for both children and staff.
All children are entitled to receive a free school meal daily. We offer the first menu choice to all children. If your child would like the second menu choice on any day, then you need to order it at the office on Monday.
Free School Meals are available to those children whose parents are receiving Income Support or Income Based Jobseekers Allowance and in some other circumstances. To apply please visit www.suffolk.gov.uk/children-families-and-learning/schools/school-meals-uniforms-and-trips/apply-for-free-school-meals/. When completed, the form should be brought to the school office or sent directly to the Area Education Office where it will be dealt with in the strictest confidence. If you are receiving a benefit please ask at the office or fill in the form. The School receive extra money which will go towards supporting your child and we are offering a uniform package as an incentive to sign up.
Children whose parents do not wish them to have a school meal may bring a packed lunch, which will be eaten in the Jungle. Lunches should be packed in a named plastic container and should not contain any fizzy drinks. Because of the increasing number of children with nut allergies, we request that you do not send peanuts or peanut butter in sandwiches. Apart from packed lunch, no other food or sweets should be sent to school. All of our children are provided with a piece of fruit every day at mid morning.
