School Meals
Christmas dinner; turkey |
Eating together is an important part of the school day. We are lucky in having excellent meals cooked by a caring and hardworking staff. It is extremely helpful to us if the children come to school able to handle cutlery correctly. We also stress the importance of good manners, so that lunchtime is pleasant and relaxing for both children and staff.
We offer a ‘Mini Choice’ menu. The children have the choice of two first courses and two desserts, and salad is always an option.
The price of meals is currently only £1.70 per day. Dinner money must be sent with your child for the week on a Monday morning. Please put this in an envelope clearly marked with his/her name and the name of the class. If paying by cheque, please ensure that your address is written on the back and the cheque is made payable to SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL.
If your child is absent during the week, please deduct the cost of the meals not taken in your next payment.
Free meals are available to those children whose parents are receiving Income Support or Income Based Jobseekers Allowance and in some other circumstances. To apply, it is necessary to obtain a form from the school or the Area Education Office, which is open during the school holidays. When completed, the form should be brought to the school office or sent directly to the Area Education Office (with your evidence of entitlement) where it will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
Children whose parents do not wish them to have a school meal may bring a packed lunch, which will be eaten in the dining room. Lunches should be packed in a named plastic container and should not contain any fizzy drinks. Because of the increasing number of children with nut allergies, we request that you do not send peanuts or peanut butter in sandwiches.
One week should be given as notice if you wish to change lunch arrangements for your child. Apart from packed lunch, no other food or sweets should be sent to school. All of our children are provided with a piece of fruit every day at mid morning.
